Job Posting: High School Science Teacher

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time Science teacher for  9th and/or 10th grade. The ideal candidate will have a background in Physical Science and/or Biology, a love for teaching, and a commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition. The position requires approximately 10 hours (or up to 20 hours) per week if teaching both the 9th and 10th-grade sciences, to include grading and occasional school activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 9th-grade Physical Science and/or 10th-grade biology, adhering to a classical curriculum that emphasizes the unity of faith and reason.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that engage students and foster a deep understanding of science specific concepts.

  • Integrate teachings and values from the Catholic intellectual tradition into the science curriculum.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and support.

  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages student curiosity and participation.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and support the school's mission.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Preference for a Masters degree but will accept a Bachelor's degree with teaching experience

  • Strong knowledge of Physical Science and/or Biological science and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner based in the Socratic method.

  • Commitment to integrating the Catholic intellectual tradition into the classroom.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Passion for working with high school students and helping them grow academically and spiritually.
